Beginners are welcome at the ever-expanding South Suffolk Pickleball club – and they certainly won’t be alone.
They run across four venues in the area, in East Bergholt, Colchester, Stanway, and most recently Ipswich – where 24 new players came along to the first session in September.
Sue Nicol started the club in January 2018, and it currently has over 120 members – and that number is growing quickly.
That’s because of the success of their beginner sessions, with one just starting in a sixth-form college in Ipswich, where pickleball has been added to the curriculum for their sports studies students.
Newbies can go along to any one of ten sessions running during the week, with their first one free.
“We are very lucky to have so many Level 1 coaches,” says Sue, “and we’ll be training some to Level 2 as soon as the courses are available.”
