Dunstable Hunters win funding from Babybel Summer of Sport

Dunstable Hunters are celebrating winning £1000 from Babybel’s Summer of Sport competition.

They were one of the lucky runners-up, recognised for their outstanding commitment to inclusivity, fostering community spirit and encouraging active lifestyles.

The competition was launched by Babybel in conjunction with TV’s Mark Wright with the aim of backing grassroots sports – and received almost 400 entries from clubs representing 31 different sports across the country.

Dunstable Hunters’ Liz Jones took the lead in devising their entry – writing 250 words on why they deserved the money.

“I wrote about the health and wellbeing benefits of what the club does, and how we bring the community together, people from all backgrounds, abilities and ages,” she told Pickleball52.

Liz – who first tried pickleball herself during her public duties as mayor of Dunstable – added that the money has gone towards “really good, robust nets to last us for years to come” plus some additional equipment.

  1. There is some nice symmetry with Dunstable Hunters receiving this funding because Thaddea Lock and friends were part of the Mark Wright’s Babybel campaign to try different sports.
