First FemPickle event is a smash hit

The first ever FemPickle festival was held at Batchwood Tennis Centre on Saturday 6th April, and safe to stay it went down a storm!

FemPickle, created by professional player and coach Mollie Kubrick-Finney, aims to create a welcoming and motivational environment for women to play pickleball. Over 90 women, aged 16-80 attended this inaugural event, with all skill levels playing amongst one another.

“It warms my heart so much to hear ladies tell me it was their best pickleball event experience so far, and it gave the others who hadn’t been to an event before the courage to attend a festival!” said Mollie.

“So many of the players have since contacted me asking when the next event will be, how they can go about entering other events and improving their own game!”

The festival was run by the London Pickleball crew, led by pickleball pioneer Louise Stephens. Players were given the opportunity to play games with players of a similar level, as well as receive some coaching from more advanced players.

Mollie (pictured above) added: “It was great to see women helping each other throughout the day. I’m so glad we created an environment where the players could express themselves without fear of judgement.”

The event was kindly supported by UK Pickleball Shop who had demo paddles available for players to try out.

If FemPickle sounds like something you’d have liked to attend, act fast to make it into the next event which is on Sunday 8 September at Legends Tennis Centre in Hertford. More info here.
