“Gathering pace and popularity”: UK Deaf Pickleball Festival hits Sidcup in January

European champion Julie Mac is joining forces with fellow player James Townsend to set up the first ever UK Deaf Pickleball Festival in January 2025.

Julie ran an initial taster session for Deaf players in May 2023, and as the community has grown, so has the demand for events – hence next month’s festival, to be held at the Sidcup Leisure Centre on Saturday 18th January.

And tickets are already sold out.

“I am so excited as I can already see that players are travelling from all over the UK, north, south, east and west,” says James. “We even have international representation with someone flying in to join us!

“I anticipate that this will be the launch of an exciting 2025 in Deaf Pickleball. The sport is gathering pace and popularity.”

He’s grateful to the volunteers who will be supporting the event, plus the sponsors who are making it possible – Standout, the Pickleball Store, and Signlive.
