Thaddea Lock, Louis Laville, Molly O’Donoghue, James Chaudry, Katie Morris and Millie Smythe were just some of the players in the medals in Egypt at the weekend with the Peak Leagues drawing to a close alongside the Egypt Open.
Lock completed a successful season in the league by picking up yet more gold – winning overall Peak Leagues gold in singles, women’s doubles and mixed – and told Pickleball 52 about how much she had enjoyed her time in Egypt, thanking the Peak League organisers in particular.
“They ran an incredible series of events in 2024 which culminated in the finals in Egypt; we got to play in different venues across Europe collecting points with the players with the most points qualifying for the finals in El Gouna – a magical resort town on the Red Sea in Egypt with brand-new dedicated pickleball courts run by ZZSports and Sherif Zaher.
“Sherif, Diogo and Filipe organised a terrific week with incredible hospitality, different activities for us to take part in and a lot of pickleball in the sunshine.
“I can’t thank everyone involved in organising this week enough, definitely one of my favourite weeks in the pickleball calendar so far!”
Lock’s doubles partner O’Donoghue had a particular thank-you for her uncle Andy and Maria for supporting her at all her matches, explaining: “They were the best supporters! They took time out of their already-planned holiday to come and support me.”
