A pickleball volunteer has been named as BBC Yorkshire’s Unsung Hero of the year.
Keith Grainge began offering pickleball sessions in York during 2023 – and has since expanded to six venues across the city.
The 83-year-old was nominated for the Unsung Hero prize, which is part of the annual Sports Personality of the Year awards.
And as Yorkshire’s winner he will now attend the ceremony this week as he is on the shortlist to win the national prize.
Last year, Keith achieved the British Citizen Award Certificate of Honour “in recognition of exceptional positive impact on society and as an inspiration to others”.
